A small, edge data center "pod" can bring high-speed connectivity to a remote town for a reasonable $1 million, says Duos Edge AI President Doug Recker.
Duos Edge AI specializes in deploying modular data center pods that can be installed at a fraction of the cost of traditional data centers, offering smaller municipalities a feasible alternative for high-speed connectivity. "When we drop one of our pods —after install, all the fiber is connected—you're right around a million dollars," says Recker.
In an interview with Cool Vector, Recker shares the example of Amarillo, a remote Texas town whose hospitals, schools and cattle ranchers need compute power, but lack the revenue for a full-scale data center.
"Amarillo can't justify a $30 or $50 million data center," explains Recker. "The savings to the customer out there justifies the colo. The connectivity is cheaper than in a tier-one market."
Recker shares his insights alongside Adrian Goldfarb, CFO of Duos Technologies Group, the holding company of Duos Edge AI, in the Cool Vector episode, "From Schools to Cattle Ranchers, Demand for Edge Data Center 'Pods' is Surging, Says Duos Edge AI."
